Payment Terms

1. Deposits and milestones
After you select a contractor, a booking deposit is required to schedule. Remaining payments are released by milestones as progress is confirmed.
2. Typical milestone structure (painting/drywall)
- Deposit: 20% (booking)
- Milestone 1: 50% (prep complete + first coat/repairs done, with photo proof)
- Final: 30% (completion + walkthrough/photos)
3. Platform fee
BuildMatch success fee: 10% of the contract value (min 50, max ,500), deducted from contractor payout.
4. Refunds and chargebacks
Refund eligibility depends on job status, milestone completion, and dispute outcomes. Chargebacks may pause payouts during investigation.
5. Change orders
Added work must be approved in writing before it starts. Unapproved extras are not payable.
